Detailed Look at the Cottage and Amenities
The master bedroom is large and furnished with a comfortable king-sized bed. There is a walkout to a private balcony equipped with two chairs overlooking the waterfront. The second bedroom has a comfortable queen-sized bed. Both bedrooms are located adjacent to the bathroom on the top floor and both have closets, dressers, end tables and reading lamps.
The Guest Cabin which is located just a few steps from the main cottage can serve as the third or fourth bedroom. It is clean, cozy and furnished with a queen-sized bed, a dresser, end tables, lamps and a couch that easily converts to a single bed. The guest cabin is a 200 square foot building that can be the ideal place for older children, maybe a second couple or grandparents to stay in at night when they might appreciate having their own separate and quiet sleeping space.
The sofa in the entertainment room located on the lower level of the main cottage converts to a double bed.
All bedrooms have windows that open with screens and ceiling fans to ensure that they have fresh air and are kept cool during the summer for a long restful sleep.
4 piece bathroom features deep claw-foot tub and shower stall. A second washroom is to be added before the vacation period in 2017
The spacious bathroom located on the top floor was remodeled a few years ago. This room is clean and bright and features a recently re-glazed deep claw-foot tub that can be the perfect place for long relaxing baths.
A sink, toilet and a separate glassed-door shower stall complete this room.
In 2017, a brand new three-piece washroom has been constructed and is fully operational on the lower level of the main cottage. Featuring a second glassed door shower stall, toilet, and sink, this second washroom is a welcomed addition to the Willow Bank cottage.
Clean well-equipped kitchen
The kitchen is clean and well equipped with good appliances including a refrigerator, oven/stove, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, blender, and microwave. Stainless steel pots and pans and a full array of cooking utensils are provided. There is an ample supply of cutlery, flatware and a wide variety of glassware including wine glasses and such to allow families or groups to dine comfortably.
There is a walkout to the elevated front deck from the dining room with easy access to the propane BBQ located there. This makes it convenient for the cook in your group to stay connected with everyone in your group while preparing delicious meals.
Comfortably furnished living room and dining room
The living room and dining rooms are located at the front of the cottage and both are bright spaces that feature a wall of windows looking out over the front deck and towards the waterfront.
The dining room is located adjacent to the kitchen and features a dining room table that can be easily expanded to allow 8 people to dine comfortably.
The living room is furnished with a large leather sectional sofa, a comfortable armchair, and ottoman. The room has a wall-mounted 46" HDTV with a satellite receiver, a DVD player, a CD player, a stereo radio receiver and an iPod docking station. There is a large selection of DVD movies provided for guests to enjoy.
South facing large elevated deck overlooking the waterfront
The Willow Bank's south-facing elevated front deck was remodeled in 2014 and now features PVC composite decking and glass railings. It can be the perfect place to watch the sunrise while savouring a morning coffee. This deck features an ever-changing but always spectacular view of Lake Huron and the surrounding forest during the day and a star-filled sky at night. This deck is equipped with a gas BBQ, comfortable lounge chairs, a glass patio table, umbrellas and six chairs for outdoor dining.
If your family or group is like most that stay at the cottage, the front deck is the place where they will love to spend time during days when they decide to relax around the cottage instead of venturing elsewhere on the peninsula. It is a wonderful place to dine outside or to sit back, lounge and to catch a few rays. Watching the birds come and go to the feeders there can be very entertaining and relaxing.
Entertainment room features 46" flat-screen satellite HDTV
A new entertainment room was constructed on the lower level of the cottage and is furnished with comfortable furniture, a 46" flat-screen satellite HDTV with surround sound and a Blu-Ray disc player. A broad selection of the latest Blu-Ray movies and music concerts have been provided for adults to enjoy. There is also a large collection of regular and Blu-Ray movies that are sure to entertain the children in your group.
A fire in the wall mounted gas fireplace located there adds a lovely warmth and ambiance to this room making it the ideal place to enjoy a good movie, a music concert or a big sporting event especially on cool evenings or inclement weather during the spring and fall.
Clean freshwater pumped from a deep drilled well
The Willow Bank cottage has an excellent water system equipped with a submersible pump that draws fresh water from a deep drilled well. The cottage has plenty of water that is supplied throughout the cottage with excellent water pressure. The water in the cottage is filtered, softened and purified using an ultraviolet light purification system. The drinking water has been government tested and deemed safe. The cottage owner is not hesitant to drink the water in the cottage.
The cottage is equipped with an extra-large water heater that provides the cottage with what seems to be an endless supply of hot water.
Shallow water at the cottage is safe for young children
The lake level in front of the cottage fluctuates. In 2020, Lake Huron was at a record high water level. The water in front of the cottage deepens gradually and can be about 6-8 feet deep. It can be the perfect place for young children to play at the water’s edge under the watchful eyes of their parents. The Singing Sands beach is a 5-minute drive from the cottage and everybody that stays at the cottage raves about the warm water and the soft sand that can be enjoyed there. In 2023, the water level has dropped.
Two kayaks for Guests to Use
There are two kayaks, paddles and some adult and children sized PFD's provided for guests to use and enjoy at the cottage. Paddling the kayaks in the shelter of the bay or out to the main lake is a fun way to explore the area surrounding the cottage by the water.
Shoreline fire pit and complimentary firewood
The fire pit, a park-style bench, and a few chairs are located on the shoreline in front of the cottage. This is the perfect place to make lasting family memories while enjoying a blazing campfire under a dark star-filled sky. And what child or adults alike do not enjoy roasting marshmallows or hot dogs over the dying embers of an open fire? Complimentary firewood is provided but you might have to bring your own guitar if you are planning to entertain your family and friends with a few songs.
On some nights, you might be fortunate to hear the howls and yelps of a pack of coyotes off in the distance.
The Willow Bank cottage is a magical place where life can be enjoyed and good memories are made.
